New euro banknote in the Money Museum

From early May 2013, the €5 note will be the first in a new series of euro banknotes to be introduced. The new series is called the Europa series as the banknotes include a portrait of Europa, the Greek mythological figure and eponym of our continent, in the watermark and the hologram.  The new €5 note is already on display in a special showcase in the Money Museum. When compared with the previous banknote, which is also on show, the changes are clear to see. In addition, some of the new security features, such as the emerald number and the holographic portrait, are explained.
