Information event on payment operations and account management for credit institutions, November 2012
The SEPA Regulation came into force at the end of March 2012. The SEPA countries’ current national credit transfer and direct debit schemes will be substituted on 1 February 2014. From this date on, the Bundesbank, too, will only process its customers’ payments in accordance with the SEPA Regulation. In addition, we plan to extend our range of SEPA payment processing services.
Next year, bank accounts held at the Bundesbank will be migrated to the TARGET2 single shared platform. We are in close dialogue with credit institutions on this matter.
Information on these subjects as well as on other recent developments in the area of cashless payments and the Bundesbank’s own account management system were provided during this information event.
The Bundesbank has held several of these information events in the past. The relevant presentation material and a list of abbreviations used are available below
