Banking statistics surveys
The reporting credit institutions’ monthly reports on their interim financial statements as well as their lending and investment business are used to reveal the business structure of the various categories of banks. The results are published in the Monthly Reports of the Deutsche Bundesbank and are broken down – in some cases with more detailed comment − by category of banks for all major balance sheet items and, in the deposit and lending statistics, for all maturities. The banking statistics show the situation of the banking industry, the interrelationships between the individual banks and groups of institutions and their relationship to the central banking system. The statistics also show changes in the volumes of business and of credit. The banking statistics thus form a basis for monetary and economic policies.
