Balance sheets
Outstanding financial assets and debt resulting from the Bundesbank’s financial account and financial assets and liabilities account are also used in the compilation of sectoral balance sheets. Alongside financial assets and liabilities, these balance sheets contain additional data on non-financial assets. These are calculated by the Federal Statistical Office as part of the national accounts data on the real economy which essentially comprise all produced and non-produced non-financial assets, such as real estate, machinery and equipment and land. Consumer durables (cars, etc) are additionally listed on the household sector’s balance sheet, thus providing a comprehensive picture of the sectoral and overall asset situation.
