Annual financial statements of European firms
Financial ratios of European corporations are published under the stewardship of the European Committee of Central Balance Sheet Data Offices (ECCBSO).
Currently, the BACH database (Bank for the Accounts of Companies Harmonised) contains figures grouped by sector of economic activity and size classes for nine European countries. The underlying concepts are harmonised according to the 4th EU directive to enable cross-country comparisons. The database contains weighted means as well as quartiles of financial ratios which can be used to judge groups of firms (defined by size and sector).
On behalf of the ECCBSO, the Study Group works on questions concerning corporate finance and capital structure in selected European countries. One of the studies for example investigates the concept of Net Worth at Risk, a risk-orientated approach to assess equity’s ability to absorb potential losses.
