Lodgements to be credited or forwarded (NiKo procedure)

Declaration of depositors in non-account-based payment procedures (individual and collective NiKo procedures) has been integrated into the customer data reporting form (German only).

NiKo cash exchange procedure for retail customers

In the next few days, a new version of the customer data reporting form (Annex 14) will be made available which will consist of the form required for registering a retail customer for the NiKo cash exchange procedure as well as the application form for approval to use the procedure.

Lodgement of banknotes

The Deutsche Bundesbank has updated its banknote processing by introducing high-performance, state-of-the-art multi-denomination banknote processing systems (BPS). By 1 July 2008, all branches had been equipped with multi-denomination BPS 1120 systems. Based on the technical possibilities this system provides, the range of services was tailored to be more client-oriented. Using multi-denomination processing systems has made lodgement preparations, which used to be very labour intensive, obsolete.

The brochure, which is available as a download, provides an overview of the regulations regarding banknote lodgements.

Lodgement of coins

As of 1 January 2011, Deutsche Bundesbank branches will accept lodgements of coins from retail customers free of charge only if they comply with the standards laid down in the guidelines for the packaging of coin rolls and if whole numbers of standard containers are submitted per denomination. Setting a coin roll standard makes it easier, regardless of the producer, to put these coin rolls in foil packs or individual rolls into circulation.
