Commemorative and collector's coins

German Sales Agency for Collector's Coins

The Bundesbank is charged with making sure that a sufficient range of means of payment are available to support the execution of payments. It is not involved in the business of trading coins nor does it maintain reserve stocks sorted according to mint mark or year of issue for potential distribution to collectors and/or other interested parties. However, in order to satisfy these persons’ wishes the German Federal Ministry of Finance set up a specialised sales agency for collectors in the city of Weiden, as detailed below:

German Sales Agency for Collector's Coins

The above-mentioned agency sells commemorative euro coins with a “proof” finish as well as a collection of German regular issue coins (from 1 cent to 2 euro) and a 2 euro commemorative coin set available in both regular and proof finish. So-called starter kits are not among the items for sale, nor is the agency able to supply sets of coins issued for circulation by other euro-area member states. If you wish to acquire any of these we suggest that you approach the relevant national monetary authority or a commercial coin dealer. For a list of addresses see below under the heading European distribution outlets for collector’s coins.
