Embezzlement uncovered at Mainz Regional Office

Internal investigations by the Deutsche Bundesbank have confirmed suspicions of embezzlement at the Mainz Regional Office. One Bundesbank employee has been dismissed and two more have been suspended. The matter has been reported to the police. The investigations are being conducted by the Mainz police. The Bundesbank today ordered a special internal examination and has brought in external auditors to conduct a separate investigation.
