
The branches of the Deutsche Bundesbank supply banks and public authorities with cash and process their cashless payments. They also provide local credit institutions with direct access to central bank credit.

Private customers may exchange D-Mark banknotes and coins for euro at the Bundesbank's branches free of charge and for an unlimited period of time. Federal securities may be purchased at no additional cost by single or standing order from the Federal Securities Administration (Bundesrepublik Deutschland Finanzagentur GmbH); no management fee is charged.
