Privacy policy

The Deutsche Bundesbank will use your personal information in compliance with data protection regulations and has appointed a Data Protection Officer pursuant to the Federal Data Protection Act.

Accessing the website

We do not usually require you to provide any personal information when you access the Bank's website. The following data are saved in a log file.

  • The name of the requested file
  • The date and time of the request
  • The volume of data transferred
  • A report on whether the request was successful

These data are only used to optimise the website and for statistical purposes. They are not made available to third parties.

Data submitted in email enquiries are only used to answer the query and are saved for a maximum of six years. If you order information materials, newsletters or brochures, we will ask you to provide your name and other personal details required to send the item(s). These data will only be used by the Bank and by the delivery company.

Use of cookies

The Deutsche Bundesbank does not generally use cookies on its website. The only exceptions to this are requests for statistics from the time series database. Cookies are small configuration files which are saved on your hard drive to optimise your visit to the website. The saved file reminds your browser which branches of the time series tree were open on your previous visit. Most browsers accept cookies automatically, although you can also set your browser to reject them.
