Whether you come to us as a salaried employee subject to wage negotiations, either through direct entry with prior commercial training or after completing our stimulating training programme for office communication assistants or office assistants, or whether you come to us as a civil servant after completing the training for the Intermediate Service the Bundesbank can offer you a wide range of employment opportunities in its many and varied spheres of activity.
After completing one of our commercial training programmes, you will be able to take on commercial and organisational assignments as a junior bank official or as a specialised secretariat staff member at our Central Office in Frankfurt am Main.
Once you have successfully completed our Intermediate Service programme, as a civil servant, you will take on responsible tasks within the area of cash processing at one of our branches
Remuneration at the Bundesbank is in accordance with the applicable regulations governing public sector employment.
As a salaried employee subject to wage negotiations (direct-entry employee or office assistant/office communication assistant trained by the Bundesbank), your pay is based on the wage agreement for the public sector (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst) and the supplementary regulations. In addition, we provide a bank allowance. The amount of the bank allowance depends on whether you work for our Central Office or for one of our Regional Offices. For example, if you take up a position in the Central Office, your starting pay would be about €23,313 (gross). After one year, your salary would increase by 11% under the wage agreement to €25,830 (gross). Direct-entry employees with relevant professional experience may be assigned to a higher level on the pay scale when starting their employment. During the course of your career, your pay would develop in relation to your duties and your individual performance.
As a civil servant at the Bundesbank, your pay is based on the Federal Civil Service Remuneration Act (Bundesbesoldungsgesetz). In addition, we provide a bank allowance. The amount of the bank allowance depends on whether you work for our Central Office, for one of our Regional Offices or for one of our branches. For example, a 21-year old, unmarried civil servant who has completed the training for the Banking Operations Service would initially receive about €21,525 per year (gross) for a position at one of the Bundesbank’s branches. As civil servants are not obliged to make social security contributions, their net wages are higher than those of salaried employees with the same gross income. During the course of your career, the development of your salary would depend, in particular, on your duties and your individual performance.
We offer a wide range of further training options which are specially tailored to your needs.
In principle, the Bundesbank gives particularly skilled and qualified staff in the Intermediate Service the opportunity to advance to the Upper Intermediate Service.
