International courses

Application procedure

To register a member of staff for a course, please fill in the online application form and questionnaire. Should you encounter any problems applying online, please get in touch with our contact persons (internationalcourses@bundesbank.de). Please note the deadline for application as applications received after this date cannot generally be considered. The questionnaire also serves as a criterion for selecting suitable participants.

Invitation letter

The official letters of invitation are e-mailed to the participants approximately four weeks before the course begins. Any further correspondence will conducted directly with the participants. Unfortunately we are unable to confirm acceptance in advance. Please refrain from making any queries in this regard.

Visa

For those participants requiring a visa to enter Germany, the organiser of the course, in addition to sending an invitation letter, will inform the German Embassy in the respective country of the plans to attend the seminar in Germany.

Number of participants

20 places are available for each course. For this reason, as a rule, only one person per country may be invited, unless the course description expressly indicates otherwise. In many cases, the number of applications exceeds the number of places available. In these cases, a selection will be made on the basis of the questionnaires which the applicants sent back.

Costs

There is no fee for attending the courses. The Bundesbank will provide accommodation for the duration of the course as well as for the day of arrival and departure. Participants may not extend their stay. Under no circumstances can the Bundesbank provide accommodation for family members or other accompanying persons. No exceptions can be made.

During their stay, participants receive breakfast and lunch at the Bundesbank. The Bundesbank bears the costs of the social events which are planned as part of the course programme.

Each participant receives a meal allowance to cover those meals which are not provided free of charge as well as a weekly pass for public transport in Frankfurt am Main. The Bundesbank has purchased health insurance which will cover the costs of necessary emergency treatment.

The Bundesbank does not cover the costs of travel to and from the Bundesbank.

Courses language

All courses are held in English. The participants are expected to have a clear command of the English language. The Bundesbank does not provide translation services.

Course location and accommodation

The international central banking courses are normally held at the Bundesbank's Central Office in Frankfurt am Main.

Participants stay at the guests apartments of the Deutsche Bundesbank. There are 20 single rooms available. The apartments are completely furnished and have kitchen facilities which the participants can use. The guest apartments are located only a few minutes’ walking distance from the Bundesbank’s Central Office.

Dress code

Normal business attire is recommended for attending the course while casual clothing may be worn for some of the social events.

Length of the courses

The courses will start and finish with an official lunch. As a rule, they will begin at 9.00 and finish 16.00 and 17.00 on the other days. The participants are expected to attend all of the functions and to not have any other engagements while the courses are being held.

Internet access

Free internet access is available in all of the guest houses of the Deutsche Bundesbank and you can use your own laptop in your room or a PC at the reception area.
