DESCRIPTION:After the financial crisis and the ensuing sovereign debt cri
 sis\, the economic recovery in the euro area is under way. Still\, polic
 ymakers face substantial fiscal challenges\, with elevated debt levels i
 n some countries and the fundamental question of how (or even if) a curr
 ency union can function well without fiscal centralization or fiscal ris
 k sharing.\n\nIn order to provide an opportunity for exchange of views f
 or both policymakers and scientific researchers\, Deutsche Bundesbank\, 
 the University of Bonn\, and ADEMU are organizing a workshop on "Fiscal 
 policy in EMU" to improve the understanding of current challenges for fi
 scal policy and point to possible ways forward.\n\nKeynote Speaker: Gian
 carlo Corsetti (Cambridge University\, CEPR) \n\nWe are especially inter
 ested in submissions covering topics that include\, but are not necessar
 ily limited to the following fields:\n\n\nChallenges of exiting the Zero
 -Lower Bound with heterogeneous fiscal conditions\n\n\nThe conduct of fi
 scal policy in a low-interest rate environment\n\n\nThe interaction of f
 iscal policy and financial markets\n\n\nFiscal rules in a currency union
 \n\n\n(Optimal) fiscal policy facing debt limits in a currency union\n\n
 \nSovereign default\, and debt restructuring\n\n\nEffects of fiscal poli
 cy on the international macroeconomic imbalances\n\n\nAspects of fiscal 
 centralization vs. decentralization in a currency union\n\nPaper submiss
 ion procedure\n\nWe are inviting papers and (extended) abstracts to be s
 ubmitted by December 15\, 2017 to conferences@bundesbank.de (Subject: Fi
 scal Workshop).\n\nAuthors of accepted papers will be notified by Januar
 y 15\, 2018.\n\nParticipants will be expected to cover their own travel
