 asel III is a comprehensive set of reform measures developed by the Base
 l Committee on Banking Supervision to strengthen the regulation and supe
 rvision of risk management in the banking sector. Specifically\, Basel I
 II focuses on strengthening the qualitative and quantitative standards w
 ithin the regulatory capital framework\, introduces a global liquidity f
 ramework\, deploys measures to reduce cyclicality\, introduces a leverag
 e ratio and provides a basic approach to regulating systemically importa
 nt banks. This one-week course seeks to impart comprehensive expert know
 ledge on major issues relating to the implementation of the Basel framew
 ork\, focusing on countries in the EU\, emerging Europe\, and the Caucas
 us.\n\nThe course aims to give an overview of the Basel framework and th
 e Basel III reforms. It will focus on both theory and practice\, with sp
 ecial attention being given to introducing the internal capital adequacy
  assessment process (ICAAP) and the supervisory review and evaluation pr
 ocess (SREP). Furthermore\, topics such as the examination of the credit
  business and the interest rate risk in the banking book will be covered
 . Participants will be invited to work on case studies on specific topic
 s of the course (in the free time after the lectures) and to share their
  experiences by giving short presentations on specific aspects of bankin
 g supervision in their home country.\n\nContents\n\n• The Single Supervi
 sory Mechanism in Europe\n\n• Overview of Basel III and latest developme
 nts with regard to the Basel framework\n\n• Banking supervision aspects 
 of the COVID-19 pandemic\n\n• Pillar 2: Supervisory Review and Evaluatio
 n Process (SREP)\n\n• Assessment of Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment
  Process (ICAAP) of banks\n\n• Assessment of ESG-Risk and IT-/Cyber-Risk
  within the SREP\n\n• Examination of credit business\n\n• Non-performing
  loan (NPL) management and resolution\n\n• Stress testing and its use in
  supervision\n\n• National experience in banking supervision\n\nTarget g
 roup \n\nMid-level to senior banking supervisors from central banks and 
 supervisory authorities. Basic knowledge of the Basel framework is essen
 tial. Participants should also be familiar with the supervisory policies
  at their institution and be prepared to actively contribute to discussi
 ons.
