 25\n\nObjective\n\nOver the past few years and especially in the wake of
  the financial crisis\, many educational initiatives have been launched 
 across the globe to improve the general public’s financial and economic 
 literacy. Government bodies\, central banks\, membership organisations (
 e.g. consumer protection organisations) and other institutions have made
  considerable efforts to enhance the public’s understanding of macroecon
 omics and make them more aware of monetary and financial issues.\n\nCent
 ral banks around the world have devoted significant resources to fosteri
 ng economic and financial education\, including the Bundesbank\, whose r
 ange of educational services available to the public is designed to impa
 rt basic knowledge in the areas of money\, currency and central banking 
 as part of its general economic activities. The aim of these services is
  to give both young people and the public at large an opportunity to und
 erstand and appreciate the importance of a stable currency and the Bunde
 sbank’s long-term commitment to price stability.\n\nThe aim of this expe
 rt panel is for participants to exchange experiences and to provide a fo
 rum for central bankers from around the world to present their strategie
 s in the area of economic and financial education.\n\nContent\nEconomic 
 and financial education: concepts\, goals and target groups\nWhy do cent
 ral banks support economic and financial education?\nEconomic education 
 activities offered by the Bundesbank\nEconomic and financial education p
 rogrammes that work – experiences from different providers\n\nTarget gro
 up\n\nThis expert panel is geared towards central bankers as well as reg
 ulators and supervisors with expertise in the area of economic and finan
 cial education. Applicants should be well versed in their own institutio
 n’s approach to economic and financial education\, and are expected to m
 ake an active contribution to discussions. Participants will be invited 
 to give a presentation relating to their field of expertise or their ins
 titution’s experience in this area.\n\nIn this context\, it would also a
 id the discussion if participants were to address the question of whethe
 r or not a central bank should focus its efforts on promoting financial 
 literacy and\, if so\, on what legal basis.\n\nPlease note\n\nA nominati
 ng person is mandatory for the participation in our in-person courses.
