DESCRIPTION:Target Group\n\n(i) Junior to mid-level central bank official
 s working in the communication department or economics/monetary policy d
 epartment\, especially in central banks under or moving towards an infla
 tion targeting regime\, and (ii) officials from central banks whose resp
 onsibilities require\, or who have a strong interest in acquiring\, a th
 orough understanding of central bank communication.\n\nDescription\n\nTh
 ere is a broad consensus that transparency and communication are crucial
  for a central bank’s credibility and the effectiveness of monetary poli
 cy. To foster credibility\, central banks need to strengthen transparenc
 y and adopt a strategic communication approach. This should be supported
  by clear communication objectives\, well-targeted messages for differen
 t target audiences and appropriate communication channels. This course r
 eviews the meaning and the role of strategic communication and transpare
 ncy for central banks and clarifies their importance for monetary policy
 . The general conceptual framework is complemented with hands-on case st
 udies of central bank communication\, including issues such as target au
 diences of central banks\, the main channels and tools and specific cont
 ent of monetary policy communication. \n\nSpecial emphasis is put on mon
 etary policy communication in a forward-looking environment\, as well as
  internal communication. This includes numerous studies and examples of 
 how modern central banks use communication to achieve their goal of low 
 and stable inflation. In addition\, issues of financial literacy and edu
 cation\, and their interactions with monetary policy communication are a
 lso covered. The course is highly interactive\, offering a mix of presen
 tations\, country practices\, workshops and group discussions.\n\nTopics
  include:\n\n\nCentral bank transparency – meaning and measurement\n\n\n
 Strategic communication for central banks: meaning\, rationale and key e
 lements\n\n\nStakeholder and target audience analysis for monetary polic
 y communication\n\n\nInstruments and channels for monetary policy commun
 ication: tailoring them to the target audience\n\n\nContent of monetary 
 policy communication\n\n\nMonetary policy communication in a forward-loo
