General Euro exchange rates are available from the end of January 2010 onwards. The previously quoted values were calculated on the basis of the buying and selling rates for the US dollar in Ethiopia in conjunction with the respective euro reference exchange rate of the European Central Bank for the US dollar.
Methodology Calculated on the basis of the buying and selling rates.

Comment on 2017-10 With effect from 11 October 2017, the exchange rates were adjusted more sharply. We recorded the following exchange rates: 10 October 2017: EUR 1 = ETB 27.5081 / 28.0678 11 October 2017: EUR 1 = ETB 31.8228 / 32.4702 Calculated using these exchange rates, the Ethiopian birr experienced a devaluation of 13.6% against the euro.
Comment on 2010-09 On 1 September 2010, the Ethiopian birr was devalued. Calculated using the exchange rates from 31 August and 1 September (EUR 1 = ETB 20.8153 / 21.2316 (buying/selling rate)) the birr was devalued by 16.8%.
