General With effect from 4 March 1992, a multiple exchange rate system was introduced. Exchange rate application from 4 March 1992 to 11 February 1993: Official exchange rate: for transactions by general government; for 35% (25% as of 12 July 1992) of income from exports, services (including foreign travel, investment income) and transfers (including pensions, benefit payments) as well as for payments for the import of certain goods (including petroleum products, fertilisers, industrial machinery). Free market rate: for the remaining 65% (75% as of 12 July 1992) of the income listed above as well as for all other transactions. The multiple exchange rate system was unified on 12 February 1993. Comment on 1985-11 The Nepalese rupee was devalued on 30 November 1985. We recorded the following exchange rates (buying/selling): 29 November 1985: DEM 1 = NPR 6.82 / 6.89 Calculated using the above-mentioned rates and the exchange rates at the end of November 1985, the Nepalese rupee experienced a devaluation of 15.2% against the Deutsche Mark (calculated on the basis of the middle rates).
