General The Azerbaijan manat (AZM), which had already been in circulation alongside the Soviet/Russian rouble since August 1992 (at a conversion rate of 10 Soviet/Russian rouble = 1 Azerbaijan manat), has been the sole legal tender since 1 January 1994. The currency conversion from Russian rouble to Azerbaijan manat occurred from 15 December 1993 at the rate of 10:1. On 1 January 2006, another currency conversion took place at the rate of 5,000 (old) Azerbaijan manat (AZM) = 1 (new) Azerbaijan manat (AZN); for exchange rates as of January 2006, see BBEX3:A:AZN:USD:CA:AC:A04.
Methodology Since 2001, calculated on the basis of mid-month and month-end exchange rates, previously on the basis of month-end rates.
