Comment on 2023-01-31 In January, the Egyptian pound depreciated strongly. Calculated using the exchange rates from the end of December 2022 and the end of January 2023, the Egyptian pound depreciated by 19.4% against the euro (calculated on the basis of the middle rates).
Comment on 2022-10-31 With effect from 27 October 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt adopted a more flexible exchange rate regime. We recorded the following exchange rates (buying/selling): 26 October 2022: EUR 1 = EGP 19.5598 / 19.8227 27 October 2022: EUR 1 = EGP 22.8203 / 23.1634. Calculated using these exchange rates, the Egyptian pound experienced a devaluation of 14.4% against the euro (calculated on the basis of the middle rates).
Comment on 2022-03-31 On 21 March 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt devalued the Egyptian pound and published the following official exchange rates (buying/selling) before as well as after this measure: 20 March 2022: EUR 1 = EGP 17.2993 / 17.4496 21 March 2022: EUR 1 = EGP 20.0306 / 20.1885. Calculated using these rates, the Egyptian pound depreciated by 13.6% against the euro.
Comment on 2016-11-15 On 3 November 2016, the de facto peg of the Egyptian pound to the US dollar was abandoned. We recorded the following exchange rates (buying/selling) from the Central Bank of Egypt: 2 November 2016: EUR 1 = EGP 9.8274 / 9.8524 3 November 2016: EUR 1 = EGP 15.0076 / 15.8389. Calculated using these exchange rates, the Egyptian pound experienced a devalution of 36.2% against the euro (on average).
