With effect from 1 October 1992, the temporary currency, the talonas (LTT) having existed for some months in the form of coupons, became the sole legal tender. The Soviet rouble was converted to talonas at a rate of 1:1. The Lithuanien litas (LTL) was legal tender from 25 June 1993 to 31 December 2014. The talonas were converted to Lithuanien litas at a rate of LTT 100 = LTL 1 and remained legal tender alongside the Lithuanien litas until 19 July 1993. The exchange rates specified for the period from October 1992 to May 1993 were converted at a rate of LTT 100 = LTL 1.
