DESCRIPTION:Objective\n\nOver the past few years and especially in the wa
 ke of the financial crisis\, many educational initiatives have been laun
 ched across the globe to improve the general public’s financial and econ
 omic literacy. Government bodies\, central banks\, membership organisati
 ons (e.g. consumer protection organisations) and other institutions have
  made considerable efforts to enhance the public’s understanding of macr
 oeconomics and raise awareness of monetary and financial issues.\n\nCent
 ral banks around the world have devoted significant resources to fosteri
 ng economic and financial education\, including the Bundesbank\, whose r
 ange of educational services available to the public is designed to impa
 rt basic knowledge in the areas of money\, currency and central banking 
 as part of its general economic activities. Building on the OECD’s propo
 sals for a national financial literacy strategy\, topics such as respons
 ible credit use\, digital financial services and long-term savings/pensi
 on provision have recently also been included in the Bundesbank’s educat
 ional services. The aim of these services is to contribute to a financia
 lly literate society and to fulfil the Bundesbank’s role as a trusted pa
 rtner in economic matters.  \n\nThe aim of this expert panel is to enabl
 e participants to exchange experiences and provide a forum for central b
 ankers from around the world to present their strategies in the area of 
 economic and financial education.\n\nContent\nEconomic and financial edu
 cation: mandate\, concepts\, goals and target groups of central banks\nE
 conomic and financial education activities offered by the Bundesbank\nEf
 fective economic and financial education programmes: experiences from di
 fferent providers\n\nTarget group\n\nThis expert panel is geared towards
  central bankers as well as regulators and supervisors with expertise in
  the area of economic and financial education. Applicants should be well
  versed in their own institution’s approach to economic and financial ed
 ucation and are expected to make an active contribution to discussions. 
 Participants will be invited to give a presentation relating to their fi
 eld of expertise or their institution’s experience in this area.
