DESCRIPTION:Objective\n\nThere is a broad consensus that transparency and
  communication are crucial for central bank credibility and the effectiv
 eness of monetary policy. To foster credibility\, central banks need to 
 strengthen transparency and adopt a strategic communication approach. Th
 is should be supported by clear communication objectives\, well-targeted
  messages for different target audiences\, and appropriate communication
  channels. This course reviews the meaning and role of strategic communi
 cation and transparency for central banks and clarifies their importance
  for monetary policy. The general conceptual framework is complemented b
 y hands-on case studies of central bank communication\, including issues
  such as central banks’ target audiences\, the main communication channe
 ls and tools\, and the specific content of monetary policy communication
 . Special emphasis is placed on monetary policy communication in a forwa
 rd-looking environment\, as well as internal communication. In addition\
 , issues of financial literacy and education\, and their interactions wi
 th monetary policy communication\, are also covered. The course is highl
 y interactive\, offering a mix of presentations\, country practices\, wo
 rkshops\, and group discussions.\n\nTopics include:\nCentral bank transp
 arency – meaning and measurement\nStrategic communication of central ban
 ks: meaning\, rationale and key elements\nStakeholder and target audienc
 e analysis for monetary policy communication\nInstruments and channels f
 or monetary policy communication: tailoring them to the target audience\
 nContent of monetary policy communication\nMonetary policy communication
  in a forward-looking environment\nExternal and internal communication\n
 Financial literacy\n\nTarget Group \n\nJunior to mid-level central bank 
 officials working in the communication department or economics/monetary 
 policy department\, especially in central banks under or moving towards 
 an inflation targeting regime\, and (ii) officials from central banks wh
 ose responsibilities require\, or who have a strong interest in acquirin
 g\, a thorough understanding of central bank communication.
