DESCRIPTION:Objective\n\nThe Basel Framework is a comprehensive set of st
 andards developed by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision to impro
 ve the regulation and supervision of the banking sector. An essential pa
 rt of it is the Basel III package\, finalised in December 2017\, that ad
 dresses the lessons learnt from the financial crisis and updates the min
 imum capital requirements. \n\nThis one-week course seeks to impart comp
 rehensive expert knowledge on major issues relating to the implementatio
 n of the Basel framework\, focusing on countries in the EU\, emerging Eu
 rope\, and the Caucasus. It will focus on both theory and practice\, wit
 h special attention to the new standardized approaches for credit and op
 erational risk\, besides introducing the EU supervisory review process (
 SREP and ICAAP/ILAAP) under Basel Pillar 2. \n\nFurthermore\, current an
 d evergreen topics such as the supervisory examination of banks’ credit 
 business as well as the supervision of NPL\, interest rate risk in the b
 anking book\, ICT risks and crypto assets will be covered. \n\nThe cours
 e requires a high level of participation\, through discussions\, case st
 udies and short participant presentations based on individual country ex
 periences. \n\nContent\nBanking supervision in the EU\nRelevant measures
  of the Basel Framework\nPillar 2: Supervisory Review and Evaluation Pro
 cess (SREP) and Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) of 
 banks in the EU\nMiCA and DORA: EU‑Frameworks for the supervision of cry
 pto assets and and ICT-/cyber risks\nSupervisory examination of credit b
 usiness\; non-performing loan (NPL) management\nBank crisis management\,
  recovery and resolution\nNational experience in banking supervision\n\n
 Target group\n\nMid-level to senior banking supervisors from central ban
 ks and supervisory authorities. Basic knowledge of the Basel framework i
 s essential. Participants should also be familiar with the supervisory p
 olicies at their institution and be prepared to actively contribute to d
 iscussions.
