SUMMARY:Spring Conference 2016 - Monetary\, financial and fiscal stabilit
 y
TRANSP:TRANSPARENT
UID:2016_06_10_eltville_636144
DESCRIPTION:Researchers and policy makers tend to treat monetary\, financ
ial and fiscal policies separately. In the interest of clear accountabil
ity\, countries often create three distinct policy institutions\, each a
ssigned to focus on its own objective-macroeconomic stability\, financia
l stability or government debt sustainability. This tendency stems partl
y from a belief that the spillovers among policies are small enough to b
 e negligible. Real-world developments since 2007 belie that belief.\n\nI
t is against this background that the Deutsche Bundesbank initiated the
Trinity research network together with the Sveriges Riksbank\, Bank of C
anada\, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York under the auspices of M
arkus Brunnermeier (Princeton University) and Eric Leeper (Indiana Unive
rsity). The aim of the network is to study interactions among monetary\,
financial\, and fiscal stabilization policies and to foster high qualit
y research and interactions among the organizing institutions as well as
external researchers.\n\nTherefore\, this year's spring conference is d
edicated to the Trinity research network.
