SUMMARY:11th International Conference on Sovereign Bond Markets
TRANSP:TRANSPARENT
UID:2025_06_10_venedig_724294
DESCRIPTION:The conference this year focuses on Sailing in Calm and Storm
y Waters\, and it is hosted by the Bank of Italy at its Venice branch. C
o-organizers include the Bank of Canada\, the Deutsche Bundesbank\, the
European Central Bank\, the Imperial College Brevan Howard Centre for Fi
nancial Analysis\, the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE\, t
he London Business School AQR Asset Management Institute and the NYU Ste
rn Volatility and Risk Institute.\n\nOver the past year or so\, most cen
tral banks around the globe have been achieving remarkable success in co
mbating post-pandemic inflation. Some argue that inflation landing has b
een bumpy\, i.e.\, not without material costs in terms of reduced econom
ic opportunities and allocation inefficiencies on Main Street\, as well
as banking fragility and financial distortions on Wall Street. Others in
stead argue that modern central banking has achieved the rare feat of so
ft-landing high inflation while supporting a protracted recovery despite
a trifecta of geopolitical challenges --- the global conflicts in Ukrai
ne and the Middle East\, post-pandemic supply chain strains\, and unreso
lved fiscal quandaries. This debate is likely to continue\, and so are t
he unprecedented challenges currently faced by global capital markets.\n
\nThe final program will include both submitted and invited papers. \n\
nThe Conference will also feature panel discussions on the major outstan
ding issues in sovereign bond markets.
