SUMMARY:Spring Conference 2023 – Climate Change and Central Banks
TRANSP:TRANSPARENT
UID:2023_05_11_eltville_767830
DESCRIPTION:Eltville am Rhein (hybrid event)\n\nClimate change is one of
the most challenging and dominating issues of our times\, impacting the
economy\, society and the financial system. While protecting the environ
ment is a task that falls to society as a whole\, central banks need to
factor in the effects of climate change on price stability and the stabi
lity of the financial system. In their role as regulators\, central bank
s need to make sure that financial institutions take proper account of c
limate-related financial risks. In short\, climate change affects the co
re tasks of central banks.\n\nAt the Spring Conference of the Deutsche B
undesbank\, we have brought together researchers from academia\, central
banks and other policy institutions. We have discussed novel insights a
nd research findings related to climate economics and the economic conse
quences of policies addressing climate change\, but also to the economic
s of nature capital in a broader sense.
