Database administrator for TARGET Services

To work in the Directorate General Payments and Settlement Systems at our Central Office and based in Frankfurt am Main or Düsseldorf, we are looking to recruit a Database administrator for TARGET Services.

TARGET Services enable the Eurosystem to provide the financial sector with major systems for payment and securities settlement and collateral management. Together with the other 4CB partner central banks (the Banque de France, Banco de España and Banca d’Italia), we work on continually adjusting and refining these systems.

What the job entails

You will assume responsibility for planning and implementing IT projects as well as implementing changes and extensions to the TARGET Services IT landscape. Your particular focus will be on the go-live, installation and administration of database software (especially Db2 and Oracle). In addition, you will assist with day-to-day running and related monitoring activities to guarantee IT operations as well as with troubleshooting. In close cooperation and consultation both within the Bundesbank and with the 4CB partner central banks, you will press ahead with the installation, integration and configuration of application components, as well as with global harmonisation initiatives for the development of ISO 20022 messages, and draw up decision-making and solution proposals. Performing these tasks will also involve representing the 4CB in various committees as well as on regular business trips to the 4CB locations elsewhere in Europe.

What we are looking for

  • Accredited master’s degree or equivalent qualification in economics, business informatics/IT, business mathematics, industrial engineering or a related discipline with an IT component
  • Very good knowledge of the EMIP/ESAP ISO 20022 message portfolio of the TARGET Services RTGS, CLM, common components, T2S, ECMS and TIPS
  • Good knowledge of SWIFT conventions and XML messages in accordance with ISO 20022
  • Ideally, knowledge of database administration and Db2 databases, data modelling and UML programming logic
  • Confident manner; problem-solving skills; ability to represent the Bank in a competent manner internally and externally and in an international environment with different cultures
  • Sound German and English language skills
