Database analyst in the Directorate General Payments and Settlement Systems

To work in the Directorate General Payments and Settlement Systems at our Central Office and based in Frankfurt am Main or Düsseldorf, we are looking to recruit a Database analyst.

TARGET Services enable the Eurosystem to provide the financial sector with major systems for payment and securities settlement and collateral management. Together with the other 4CB partner central banks (the Banque de France, Banco de España and Banca d’Italia), we work on continually adjusting and refining these systems.

What the job entails

You will monitor and analyse data quality across the various TARGET Services systems, including outbound processing and customer communication. Alongside regular analyses of database performance and data quality and reporting, this will also include cross-functional analysis of the impact of change requests as well as quality management of newly created technical concepts through to involvement in the planning, coordination and execution of acceptance tests. In addition, you will design a technical framework for the integration of innovative technologies (e.g. API) into the existing range of TARGET Services. You will carry out your tasks in close cooperation and consultation both within the Bundesbank and with the 4CB partner central banks and contribute your expertise to various national and international committees. Performing these tasks will also entail regular business trips to the 4CB locations elsewhere in Europe.

What we are looking for

  • Accredited master’s degree or equivalent qualification in economics, business informatics/IT, business mathematics, industrial engineering or a related discipline with an IT component
  • Very good working knowledge of database management systems and communication interfaces as well as in the field of data quality
  • Extensive knowledge of Jira and Confluence
  • Good grasp of ISO 20022 organisation/maintenance and how the ISO 20022 message registration process works and the steps involved
  • Sound knowledge of Lotus Notes databases as well as MS Access and Visio
  • Knowledge of a modern programming language (e.g. C, C#, PHP, HTML, SQL) and of visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, QlikView, Altyx or PREP) would be an advantage
  • Ideally, knowledge of securities settlement, custody and management as well as of current developments in this area (CSDR in connection with ECMS)
  • Very good analytical and conceptual skills; excellent problem-solving abilities; strong communication skills; ability to manage conflicts; ability to represent the Bank in a competent manner internally and externally and in an international environment with different cultures
  • Sound German and English language skills
