SUMMARY:Carbon content measurement for products\, organisations and aggre
gates: creating a sound basis for decision making
TRANSP:TRANSPARENT
UID:2024_02_21_carbon_content_913014
DESCRIPTION:The measurement of carbon content is at the heart of evidence
-based policy on climate change. There is important activity on three le
vels: product\, company and aggregate level. For organisations and produ
cts\, carbon accounting standards are evolving as instruments for corpor
ate decision making. ESG reporting requirements\, such as the CSRD in th
e EU\, will introduce mandatory carbon disclosure. Ultimately\, national
\, European and international work on better and more informative aggreg
ate emission statistics is going on\, eg within the context of the G20 D
ata Gaps Initiative (DGI). Against this background\, the IMF\, the BIS/I
FC\, Eurostat\, the Deutsche Bundesbank\, the Central Bank of Chile and
the University of Oxford Blavatnik School of Government are jointly orga
nising an international workshop on measurement\, reporting\, and dissem
ination of carbon content information. The workshop will take place on 2
1-23 February 2024 on the premises of the Deutsche Bundesbank Regional O
ffice in Hamburg. For details\, see the information sheet below. Please
note that\, owing to capacity restraints\, participation in person as co
ntributing expert is by invitation only. Anyone who is interested can at
tend the event online. Hybrid panels will have the opportunity to intera
ct and discuss results from 13:00 to 15:00.
