Harmonised indices of consumer prices of the euro area countries Expenditure weights (Parts per 1000; HICP total=1000)

Breakdown by purpose of individual consumption

This table shows household expenditure weights used by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for the euro area and the euro area countries. The figures are shown as parts per 1000 of the expenditures covered by the overall HICP. The HICP expenditure weights are updated on an annual basis. The breakdown corresponds to the European Classification of Individual Consumption according to Purpose (ECOICOP) adapted to the needs of the HICP. For more information on this classification please refer to the Eurostat HICP website (see “External links”).

In addition to this breakdown, the table entitled "Harmonised indices of consumer prices, breakdown by type of product (aggregates mainly used by the ECB)" gives an alternative presentation based on the same detailed HICP sub-indices.
