Successfully tested customer-operated coin acceptor devices in accordance with section 36 of the Bundesbank Act
Pursuant to section 36 of the Bundesbank Act (Bundesbankgesetz), all institutions engaged in the sorting and distribution of coins are obliged, among other things, to withdraw from circulation all euro coins received by them which they know or have sufficient reason to believe to be counterfeit and to hand them over to the competent national authorities. In accordance with Article 6 (1) of Regulation (EC) No 1338/2001, this means, for instance, that a customer-operated coin deposit machine must be able to detect and withhold counterfeit or suspected counterfeit coins and not return them to the depositor.
Section I of the "Consolidated list of coin processing machines successfully tested" contains the types of coin acceptor devices that have successfully passed the Deutsche Bundesbank's detection test with a test set of counterfeit coins. Section II lists the devices for which the manufacturer has submitted a declaration stating that they are conform with a device that has been tested. The certificate of approval is valid for two years from the issue date (test date).
