Chemnitz is the European Capital of Culture 2025. To mark the occasion, the Regional Office in Saxony and Thuringia is organising a range of events at the Bundesbank’s Chemnitz branch. In addition to a coin exhibition and an art exhibition, there will be a panel discussion with Bundesbank Executive Board member Burkard Balz. 

Der Median der von den Verbraucherinnen und Verbrauchern in den vergangenen zwölf Monaten wahrgenommenen Inflation blieb unverändert, ebenso ihre Erwartungen für die Inflation in fünf Jahren (die in diesem Monat erstmals gemeldet werden), während der Median ihrer Erwartungen bezüglich der Inflation in den kommenden zwölf Monaten und jener der Erwartungen bezüglich der Inflation in drei Jahren stiegen.

Die Deutsche Bundesbank öffnet den Europavillon in der Frankfurter Innenstadt für ihre Europawoche. Vom 5. Mai bis 10. Mai bietet die Notenbank eine Vielzahl von Veranstaltungen rund um aktuelle Themen und ihre Aufgaben an.

Die Jahreswachstumsrate des enger gefassten Geldmengenaggregats M1, das den Bargeldumlauf und die täglich fälligen Einlagen umfasst, stieg im März auf 3,8 % gegenüber 3,4 % im Februar (korrigiert von ursprünglich 3,5 %).

Die Ersparnisbildung (netto) im Euroraum belief sich im Jahr 2024 auf 838 Mrd. € (dies entspricht einem Anteil von 6,9 % des verfügbaren Nettoeinkommens im Euroraum) und veränderte sich damit kaum gegenüber den vier Quartalen bis zum dritten Quartal 2024. 
 

In the fourth quarter of 2024, German households’ nominal financial assets grew by €136 billion, totalling €9,050 billion as at the end of the year. This is now the fifth increase in succession, continuing the growth streak that has been ongoing since the end of 2023. Households increased their claims by €79 billion and generated valuation gains of €57 billion.

“This is one of the most important Spring Meetings,” Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel said at a press breakfast with Germany’s acting Federal Finance Minister Jörg Kukies on the occasion of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. “We know what we’ve got, and what we’ve had, with the IMF and the World Bank. Multilateralism is a core element of the global economic order.”

“Economic output in Germany is likely to have increased slightly in the first quarter of 2025, but could suffer a setback in the second quarter,” the Bundesbank writes in its latest Monthly Report. Construction and industrial output, for instance, were up recently. Retail sales also continued to grow in January and February. However, according to the Bundesbank’s economists, the outlook for the second quarter is gloomy, not least given the US administration’s tariff policy.

Das Projekt Meridian FX liefert den Nachweis, dass Infrastrukturen für Großbetragszahlungen, wie beispielsweise Echtzeit-Brutto-Abwicklungssysteme (RTGS), mithilfe neuer Technologien interagieren können, um Devisentransaktionen durchzuführen. In dem gemeinsamen Projekt der Bank für Internationalen Zahlungsausgleich (BIZ), der Bank of England, der Banque de France, der Banca d’Italia, der Deutschen Bundesbank und der Europäischen Zentralbank wurde untersucht, wie Devisentransaktionen synchronisiert abgewickelt werden können.

Die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) hat heute die unverbindlichen Kalender für die regulären Tenderoperationen und die Mindestreserve-Erfüllungsperioden (MEPs) des Eurosystems im Jahr 2026 veröffentlicht.
