Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann does not believe that the uncertainty generated by trade disputes has thus far had any lasting impact on the global economy. Das Brutto-Emissionsvolumen am deutschen Rentenmarkt lag im August 2018 mit 106,4 Mrd € leicht unter dem Wert des Vormonats. Nach Abzug der deutlich gesunkenen Tilgungen und unter Berücksichtigung der Eigenbestandsveränderungen der Emittenten stieg der Umlauf heimischer Rentenwerte um 10,9 Mrd €, verglichen mit einem Rückgang von 9,9 Mrd € im Juli. Der Umlauf ausländischer Schuldverschreibungen am deutschen Rentenmarkt stieg zudem um 5,4 Mrd €.

Die deutsche Leistungsbilanz verzeichnete im August 2018 einen Überschuss von 15,3 Mrd €. Das Ergebnis lag um 0,2 Mrd € über dem Niveau des Vormonats. Der Aktivsaldo im Warenhandel verminderte sich geringfügig, während der Rückgang des Passivsaldos im Bereich der „unsichtbaren“ Leistungstransaktionen, die Dienstleistungen sowie Primär- und Sekundäreinkommen umfassen, im Vergleich dazu etwas größer ausfiel.  

Die Jahreswachstumsrate des Umlaufs an von Ansässigen im Euro-Währungsgebiet begebenen Schuldverschreibungen lag im August 2018 bei 1,3 %, verglichen mit 1,2 % im Vormonat. Die Jahreswachstumsrate des Umlaufs an von Ansässigen im Euro-Währungsgebiet emittierten börsennotierten Aktien belief sich im August 2018 wie schon im Juli auf 1,2 %.
