The Bundesbank’s landscape architecture competition for the new campus at its Central Office in Frankfurt am Main has come to a close. An expert jury selected four prize winners and awarded one honourable mention out of a total of 16 submitted designs.

Executive Board member Burkhard Balz has introduced Fabian Huttner as the Bundesbank’s new representative in Madrid. The scale of the challenges associated with the single monetary policy in the euro area became evident in the wake of the financial crisis and during the coronavirus pandemic, Mr Balz said in Madrid. That makes it all the more important to reach out more to national authorities and financial institutions in the major euro area countries. It is for this reason that the Bundesbank has now resumed its practice of sending staff members to the German embassies in Paris, Rome and Madrid.

Am 27. Juli 2023 beschloss der EZB-Rat, die Mindestreserven mit 0 % zu verzinsen. Durch diese Änderung, die mit der am 20. September 2023 beginnenden Mindestreserve-Erfüllungsperiode wirksam wird, bleibt die Wirksamkeit der Geldpolitik gewahrt. Zugleich wird die Geldpolitik effizienter gemacht. 

Individuals contribute significantly to carbon emissions. A recent Bundesbank discussion paper shows that providing information on combating climate change motivates individuals to reduce their carbon footprint. Presenting the information as the result of scientific research is just as effective as framing it as the behaviour of other people, the study finds. Both approaches led to the survey respondents stating that they wish to make more environmentally friendly choices.

Im Konvergenzbericht der EZB wird geprüft, ob ein hohes Maß an dauerhafter wirtschaftlicher Konvergenz im untersuchten Land erreicht ist und die rechtlichen Anforderungen eingehalten werden, die erfüllt sein müssen, damit die nationalen Zentralbanken (NZBen) integraler Bestandteil des Eurosystems werden können.

Der Betrieb der neuen Filiale der Deutschen Bundesbank in Dortmund nimmt weiter an Fahrt auf. Sie übernimmt künftig die Bargeldversorgung in der gesamten Rhein-Ruhr-Region.

Mit der Einigung der GHoS vom Sonntag, 12. September 2010, ist das Kernstück der neuen bankaufsichtlichen Regeln, die aufsichtlichen Anforderungen an das Eigenkapital, beschlossen. Das Eigenkapital der Kreditinstitute wird künftig härter und höher sein, um die Stabilität des Finanzsystems und seine Krisenresistenz zu verbessern und das internationale Regelwerk stärker auf Nachhaltigkeit hin auszurichten.
