Bundesbank Executive Board member Sabine Mauderer has called on Mittelstand to grasp the opportunity presented by sustainable and digital transformation. “You can demonstrate that sustainability and business success belong together,” Ms Mauderer told business leaders.

Bereits in den vergangenen Jahren konnte die Deutsche Bundesbank wichtige Fortschritte im Bereich der absoluten Verbräuche erzielen. Bis 2023 hat sie den Gesamtverbrauch von Energie, Wasser und Papier weiter gesenkt. 2024 wurden weitere Maßnahmen eingeleitet, darunter die Reduktion von Büroflächen durch die Einführung flexibler Arbeitsmodelle. Die Grundlagen der Datenerfassung wurden verbessert, um dadurch zielgerichtetere Maßnahmen zur Erreichung der Ziele einzuleiten.

Der Rat der Europäischen Zentralbank hat sich auf einen umfassenden Maßnahmenplan verständigt. Mit diesem Plan, dem ein ambitionierter Fahrplan zugrunde liegt, sollen Klimaschutzaspekte stärker in den geldpolitischen Handlungsrahmen des EZB-Rats einbezogen werden.

The Conference on Regulating Financial Markets is jointly organised by the Deutsche Bundesbank, the Goethe University Frankfurt/Center for Advanced Studies on the Foundation of Law and Finance, the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management/Center for European Transformation, and the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).

The National Cash Forum has been established on the initiative of the Bundesbank, the being, as Bundesbank Executive Board member Burkhard Balz put it, to preserve cash as an efficient and widely used means of payment in a changing payment landscape. The forum will facilitate close dialogue between the associations of the banking industry, retail trade, consumer protection, the CIT industry, vending machine operators and the Bundesbank. The industry is set to meet here at least once a year.
