Statistical reports relating to the external sector comprise incoming and outgoing payments (transactions) as well as the status of claims, liabilities and direct investment.

Reporting parties can use XML files to submit external transaction and stock reports electronically and securely to the Bundesbank via NExt or ExtraNet.

The trade in services records all monthly transactions involving services between residents and non-residents. These include travel, transport services, financial services, fees for the use of intellectual property, and business-related statistics.

The Bundesbank registered approximately 42,000 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €1.9 million in 2021, representing a 28.6% decrease on the previous year. This drop was because manufacturers and distributors of counterfeits had fewer outlets, explained Bundesbank Executive Board member Johannes Beermann.
