The European Central Bank and other major central banks have agreed on a coordinated action to safeguard the provision of credit institutions with cheap US dollar loans. This will serve as a liquidity backstop amidst the coronavirus pandemic and strengthen the supply of credit to households and enterprises. Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann welcomed the coordinated action.

Der Bruttoabsatz am deutschen Rentenmarkt lag im Januar 2020 mit 154,9 Mrd € wieder deutlich über dem Wert des Vormonats (67,4 Mrd €). Unter Berücksichtigung gestiegener Tilgungen und von Eigenbestandsveränderungen der Emittenten stieg der Umlauf inländischer Rentenpapiere um 29,9 Mrd €, nach einem Rückgang von 24,3 Mrd € im Dezember 2019. Der Umlauf ausländischer Titel am deutschen Markt erhöhte sich um 9,2 Mrd €, sodass der Umlauf von in- und ausländischen Schuldverschreibungen in Deutschland im Januar im Ergebnis um 39,2 Mrd € anstieg.

In light of the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the ECB has announced new liquidity assistance measures to bolster the flow of credit to the economy. In this context, the ECB is focusing primarily on small and medium-sized enterprises. Furthermore, the ECB will acquire €120 billion worth of securities until the end of the year in addition to the bond purchases that have already been planned. The key interest rates will remain unchanged.  

Die Bank of Canada, die Bank of England, die Bank von Japan, die Europäische Zentralbank, die Federal Reserve und die Schweizerische Nationalbank geben heute eine koordinierte Aktion zur Stärkung der Liquiditätsversorgung über die unbefristeten US-Dollar-Liquiditätsswap-Vereinbarungen bekannt.

Die deutsche Leistungsbilanz verzeichnete im Januar 2020 einen Überschuss von 16,6 Mrd €. Das Ergebnis lag um 8,1 Mrd € unter dem Niveau des Vormonats.

Die zentralen Gegenparteien (CCPs) stellen planmäßig im Juni 2020 von einem EONIA-basierten auf ein €STR-bezogenes Diskontierungsschema um. Daraus ergeben sich spezielle Fragen zu Swaption-Produkten, sofern das Ausübungsdatum dieser Kontrakte nach dem Umstellungsdatum der CCPs liegt.
