€500 banknotes of the 1st series

As part of the “Federal States” series, the German government has decided to mint a  €2 commemorative coin “Brandenburg” (featuring Sanssouci Palace). It will be issued on 28 January 2020.

The euro has proven to be a stable currency. The Bundesbank, together with the other central banks in the euro area, makes sure of this. But why is a stable currency so important? The Bundesbank has created an animated film to illustrate why it is important that prices do not rise or fall sharply overall and which role the central bank plays in safeguarding price stability.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid a visit to the Bundesbank in Frankfurt am Main. Talking to Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel and Executive Board members Burkhard Balz and Sabine Mauderer, he learned more about innovative topics at the central bank, such as the digital euro and artificial intelligence.

Die Ersparnisbildung (netto) im Euroraum erhöhte sich im Jahr 2023 auf 833 Mrd. € (dies entspricht einem Anteil von 7,3 % des verfügbaren Nettoeinkommens im Euroraum), verglichen mit 751 Mrd. € in den vier Quartalen bis zum dritten Quartal 2023.

Die Jahreswachstumsrate der weit gefassten Geldmenge M3 lag im März 2024 bei 0,9 % nach 0,4 % im
Februar. In den drei Monaten bis März betrug sie durchschnittlich 0,4 %.

Der Median der Wahrnehmung der Verbraucherinnen und Verbraucher bezüglich der Inflation in den vergangenen zwölf Monaten und der Median ihrer Erwartungen bezüglich der Inflation in den kommenden zwölf Monaten verringerten sich, während der Median ihrer Erwartungen zur Inflation in drei Jahren unverändert blieb.
