The branches of the Bundesbank supply the economy with euro banknotes and coins, and offers private customers the opportunity to exchange D-Mark banknotes and coins free-of-charge and with no fixed deadline.

Stable money is a precious public good. It protects savers and income earners from the erosion of wealth while promoting growth and employment.

Confidence in a currency is rooted in cash. In Germany, it is the Bundesbank’s task to provide an adequate supply of high-quality euro banknotes and coins at all times.

In its role as fiscal agent of the Federal Government the Bundesbank fulfills different tasks related to the issuance and settlement of Federal securities.
