Ein digitaler Euro wäre so wie gegenwärtig Banknoten und Münzen ein universelles Zahlungsmittel im gesamten Eurogebiet. Mit dem vorgeschlagenen Status als gesetzliches Zahlungsmittel wäre sichergestellt, dass er auf breite Akzeptanz als Zahlungsinstrument stieße.
