The Deutsche Bundesbank is the independent central bank of the Federal Republic of Germany. Eurosystem monetary policy is the Bundesbank's core business area. Other core business areas include the financial and monetary system, banking supervision, cashless payments and cash operations.

“The German economy beat last month’s expectations in the first quarter of 2023,” according to the Bundesbank’s latest Monthly Report. While persistently high inflation weighed on private consumption, industry saw a stronger recovery than expected. The Bundesbank is anticipating positive employment developments and a slight decline in the inflation rate in the coming months.

Am 5. April 2023 erließ der EZB-Rat die Leitlinie EZB/2023/8 zur Änderung der Leitlinie EZB/2019/7 über Inlandsgeschäfte zur Verwaltung von Aktiva und Passiva durch die nationalen Zentralbanken sowie den Beschluss EZB/2023/9 zur Änderung des Beschlusses EZB/2019/31 über die Verzinsung von Überschussreserven und bestimmten Einlagen.

After three quarters of decline, households’ financial assets grew in the fourth quarter of 2022, standing at €7,254 billion at the end of the year. Households’ claims increased by a total of €68 billion. Following three quarters of significant valuation losses, valuation gains were recorded again, amounting to €43 billion in total.
