The branches of the Bundesbank supply the economy with euro banknotes and coins, and offers private customers the opportunity to exchange D-Mark banknotes and coins free-of-charge and with no fixed deadline.

Aus Vereinfachungsgründen genügt es, wenn meldepflichtige Institute mit permanenter Fehlanzeige diese nur einmal jährlich (am Jahresende) anzeigen. Die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) hat heute eine Studie zu den Umweltauswirkungen der Euro-Banknoten als Zahlungsmittel veröffentlicht. Demnach beliefen sich die mit Banknotenzahlungen verbundenen Umweltauswirkungen im Jahr 2019 auf durchschnittlich 101 Mikropunkte (µPt) je Person im Euroraum.

Bereits in den vergangenen Jahren konnte die Deutsche Bundesbank wichtige Fortschritte im Bereich der absoluten Verbräuche erzielen. Bis 2023 hat sie den Gesamtverbrauch von Energie, Wasser und Papier weiter gesenkt. 2024 wurden weitere Maßnahmen eingeleitet, darunter die Reduktion von Büroflächen durch die Einführung flexibler Arbeitsmodelle. Die Grundlagen der Datenerfassung wurden verbessert, um dadurch zielgerichtetere Maßnahmen zur Erreichung der Ziele einzuleiten.

The House of the Euro was inaugurated by ECB President Christine Lagarde, eight central bank governors and the entire ECB Executive Board as a place for cooperation in Brussels between the European Central Bank, the Bundesbank and other central banks.

The €10 collectors’ coin “On the water” featuring a colourless polymer ring and a blue cupronickel ring was issued on 9 September 2021. This coin is the last in a three-part series, “Air Moves” (2019‑21).

The G20 is currently considered the main forum for international economic cooperation and is therefore at the heart of multilateral financial diplomacy. Since its inception in 1999, the G20 has primarily focused on managing financial crises, strengthening the financial sectors of emerging market countries, enhancing the Bretton Woods institutions and developing growth strategies.

Karin Sagner-Kaiser of the CIC and Prof. Andreas Igl of the Bundesbank’s University of Applied Sciences were at the Bank of Mauritius. They explained the Basel III reform in detail to an audience of around 60 people working in banking supervision and at credit institutions. 

As part of the Bundesbank Invited Speakers Series, Beatrice Weder di Mauro held a talk entitled “Still too big to fail? The need for reform after the demise of Credit Suisse”. She was invited by the Bundesbank’s Research Centre, whose director, Falko Fecht, hosted the proceedings.  

The Bundesbank and the Joint Vienna Institute discussed monetary policy issues with experts from 12 different countries. The topics of climate change and digitalisation raised many questions.
