The December 2019 Monthly Report describes the outlook for the German economy based on projections for 2020 and 2021, looking further ahead to 2022 as well, and contains an analysis of German enterprises’ profitability and financing conditions in 2018. It also addresses the relevance of surveys of expectations for the Deutsche Bundesbank, and a further article discusses the mixing of euro coins in Germany.

The July 2021 edition of the Bundesbank’s Monthly Report features an article on cross-border corporate takeovers and the impact of internationalisation on firms in Germany. Furthermore, crypto-tokens and decentralised finance apps are outlined and digital risks in the banking sector discussed. In addition, the connection between macroprudential policy and Growth-at-Risk is analysed.

Climate change, and our response to it, will have a significant impact on economic and financial systems. The impacts will be far-reaching in breadth and in magnitude; subject to tipping points and irreversible changes; and are uncertain yet at the same time totally foreseeable. In particular, while we do not know now exactly what physical and transition risks will materialise, we do know for sure that we will face some combination of those risks. And, crucially, we also know that the size and balance of these future financial risks and economic costs will depend on the actions we take today.
