On the basis of selected empirical analyses, the September 2019 Monthly Report explains the impact that wages have on prices in Germany and features an analysis of detailed state government budget figures for 2018. In addition, the Monthly Report describes the long-term changes in the unsecured interbank money market and also discusses banks’ profitability in 2018.

The Bundesbank posted a profit of €2.0 billion for the 2017 financial year, compared with €1.0 billion one year earlier. Following an allocation to the reserves, the remaining distributable profit of €1.9 billion.

In 2002 the Federal Ministry of Finance asked the Deutsche Bundesbank to present a study on currency requirements in Germany. This study is intended to contain a macroeconomic analysis of the quantitative development of cash, as well as qualitative aspects which could influence currency requirements.
