Deutsche Bundesbank social media netiquette

Through our social media channels, we provide information about the work of the Deutsche Bundesbank. These channels complement the content published on our website.

We appreciate your messages and comments on our published content. We are also happy to answer any relevant questions that you post on our social media channels. However, for specialised technical questions, please contact us via telephone or using our contact form so that we can provide you as appropriate a response as possible.

For our social media channels on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube, the following netiquette rules apply:

Constructive and objective contributions are welcome

We welcome questions, feedback and objective contributions on the content that we publish via our social media channels. Most of the users on our social media channels speak German or English. To avoid excluding other users from the conversation, please post your contributions in German or English. For contributions in other languages, please also provide a translation in either German or English.

Contributions containing the following are not allowed:

  • links or comments that are unrelated to the topic covered in the relevant content post;
  • comments that consist solely of links or that serve only to disseminate linked content;
  • reposts of the same comments under different content posts;
  • content from other forums or blogs;
  • addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers or other private data as well as private correspondence, such as emails or letters (including third-party data);
  • claims or statements that have been proven to be false or are intentionally false;
  • full citations (e.g. complete articles) without express permission of the copyright holder;
  • citations without attribution to the source and/or copyright holder;
  • commercial or private offers of goods or services.

Please be respectful

Constructive dialogue requires respect.

In particular, please abstain from:

  • insults, slurs, and defamation of any type;
  • incitements to violence or any other type of threat;
  • pornography and obscenities as well as any other vulgarities:
  • content that glorifies violence or that is discriminatory, racist, xenophobic, sexist, demeaning, or anti-constitutional;
  • content that violates the rights of third parties.

Furthermore, please note that each social media platform is subject to its own terms and conditions of use with corresponding rules and possibilities for imposing sanctions on the part of its provider.

We reserve the right to hide or delete contributions that violate applicable law and/or the principles set out in these netiquette rules. In addition, we reserve the right to report such contributions, as well as those that breach the terms and conditions of use of the relevant social media platform, to the provider of said platform. If necessary, we will also take legal action. In cases of serious or repeated offenses, we reserve the right to permanently ban the user(s) in question from our social media channels.
