Purchasing option

The mint condition coins (Ag 500; weight 17 g) will be brought into circulation at their face value (€35) in the Deutsche Bundesbank branches.

The issue price of the collector quality coins made of sterling silver (alloy Ag 925, weight 18 g) with a proof-like finish will be higher than their face value and can be ordered from Münze Deutschland (Germany’s official sales agency for collector coins).

The coin was designed by Ulf Schüler, an artist based in Schwielowsee.

The busts of the two statesmen are skilfully positioned at the centre of the picture side, embraced by the inscription “STRESEMANN · FRIEDENSNOBELPREIS · 1926 · BRIAND” (Stresemann · Nobel Peace Prize · 1926 · Briand). The detailed rendering shows Gustav Stresemann on the left and Aristide Briand on the right, both with their gaze turned outwards towards the viewer. A portion of the Nobel Peace Prize medal is depicted in the middle of the lower part of the coin, serving as a vivid visual link between the pair being celebrated and the reason behind their commemoration. The figures clasping one another’s shoulders and the lettering are closely modelled on the original medal awarded at the time. The winning design captivates not only through the way in which the theme has been handled but also through its masterful craftsmanship and clear visual language.

The reverse features an eagle, the words “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the value and denomination, the letter “F” for the State Mint of Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart, the year 2026, and the 12 stars of Europe. In addition, the words “SILBER 500” (mint condition coin) “SILBER 925” (proof-like finish coin) are minted on the coin.

The coin’s smooth edge is engraved with the phrase “Peace in Europe” in both German and French:
“FRIEDEN IN EUROPA – PAIX EN EUROPE”
