Information on data processing in the context of the BLS

In order to minimize the use of personal data, we recommend that interlocutors provide their contact person at the Deutsche Bundesbank with a generic or departmental email address for correspondence related to the BLS.

Type of data collected

During the BLS collection process, the following personal data of interlocutors at the banks in the BLS sample are processed: name, professional email address, professional telephone number, and professional role.

Purpose of data collection

The BLS is conducted for monetary policy purposes. The aforementioned personal data are required by the Deutsche Bundesbank (Wilhelm-Epstein-Straße 14, 60431 Frankfurt am Main, Tel.: + 49 69/9566–0, Email: info@bundesbank.de) in compliance with legal data protection regulations for maintaining contact with the interlocutors at the banks participating in the survey.

Storage and deletion of collected data

To conduct the BLS, we record the contact details of the current interlocutors in address lists, which are updated as needed. Additionally, these lists are regularly reviewed for accuracy once a year. This ensures that all personal data of former interlocutors recorded in the lists are promptly deleted. Exceptions include emails that serve to document the conduct of the BLS and may contain interlocutors' email addresses that cannot be individually deleted. If the survey is discontinued, these emails will be deleted after the applicable statutory retention period.

Confidentiality of collected data

Access to the personal data of interlocutors is restricted to a very limited group of individuals who are bound by confidentiality. The responsible department within the Deutsche Bundesbank is the Monetary Policy and Monetary Analysis Division. The contact details of current interlocutors are also stored by the interviewers in the respective regional offices and are reviewed for accuracy at least once a year.
