Customer Access Mechanism-SEPA (CAM-SEPA)

General considerations

Within its retail payment procedures, the Deutsche Bundesbank offers account holders without a bank sort code a facility for settling domestic and cross-border SEPA credit transfers and direct debits (CORE and B2B). SEPA payments are effected via the CAM-SEPA component.

Submission and delivery of payments

SEPA payments can be submitted and delivered electronically using the following means of communication.

  • EBICS (Electronic Banking Internet Communication Standard)
  • FinTS/Online banking

Processing and booking of payments

SEPA credit transfers and SEPA direct debits are settled in a morning and evening execution window. In the case of SEPA credit transfers, the relevant amounts are debited to the account of the submitting party either on the same business day (if booking is to occur through the morning execution window) or on the next business day (if booking is to occur through the evening execution window).

If SEPA direct debits are to be processed during the submission period set out in the SEPA Direct Debit Scheme, these payment orders must be presented in good time prior to the due date. SEPA direct debits will then be booked on the stated due date.

Procedural rules

For the purpose of processing SEPA payments submitted to CAM-SEPA in file format by means of data telecommunication via EBICS and the online banking platform via FinTS as well as for the electronic provision of transaction information on SEPA payments, account holders without a bank sort code are required to observe the "Procedural rules of the Deutsche Bundesbank for account holders without a bank sort code regarding the clearing and settlement of SEPA credit transfers submitted by data telecommunication (Procedural rules SEPA credit transfers for account holders without a bank sort code)" as well as the "Procedural rules of the Deutsche Bundesbank for account holders without a bank sort code regarding the clearing and settlement of SEPA direct debits submitted by data telecommunication (Procedural rules SEPA direct debits for account holders without a bank sort code)".
