The branches of the Bundesbank supply the economy with euro banknotes and coins, and offers private customers the opportunity to exchange D-Mark banknotes and coins free-of-charge and with no fixed deadline.

Die Leistungsbilanz wies in den vier Quartalen bis zum dritten Quartal 2025 einen Überschuss von 283 Mrd € auf (1,8 % des BIP im Euroraum), verglichen mit einem Überschuss von 425 Mrd € (2,8 % des BIP) ein Jahr zuvor.

Germany’s current account recorded a surplus of €15.1 billion in November 2025, up €0.3 billion on the previous month’s level. Although the surplus in the goods account decreased, the swing to a surplus in invisible current transactions, which comprise services as well as primary and secondary income, was slightly stronger.
